PLEASE HELP ME. I bought a facial creme remover and my skin burns?

I bought Sally Hansen facial creme remover and the area burns like crazy and is all red and irritated. What can i do i have no Aloe Vera left. I am returning this product tomorrow! What can i do to calm the redness?|||This is a chemical burn in all probability although it can also be an allergic reaction. Treat is first as a burn. If the skin is generally intact use bacitricin and coat the area lightly. keep the area clean by using unscented soap twice a day.

If you are finding raised red areas it may be allegic reaction time. Treat it like a burn and you mighht try an oral antihistamine like Benadryl (Generic is Diphenhydramine.)

Hair removers like Nair, Sally Hansen, etc dissolve the protiens that make hair so that it will just wipe off. The base of the hair shaft is softer and is more easily disolved than the top is so the hair closest to the root goes first. If left on too long the reaction you describe is a common result due to the fact that the stuff likes to eat skin too. So you end up removing a layer of your protective epidermis every time you use it. If you use the stuff too frequently your skin has not had a chance to grow more outer skin and so you start getting close to the inner dermis which hurts and is in fact what a burn does.

Befor using a depilatory again test a skin area to see if it prevokes a reaction. Why? Because if it IS an allergic reaction you will become increasingly sensitive to it and the reaction will be worse every time you use it.

What you can try:

(ask a doctor or pharmasicst 1st)

Antihistamine tablet such as Piriton or Phenergan along with a cortisone cream should solve the problem. Also avoid hot showers or baths, which will always make an allergy worse.

An alternative diagnosis would be folliculitis where there is a spot of redness at the base of every hair follicle where the pubic hair has been shaved. In the pelvic area the possibility of an infection of these hair follicles arises in which case bathing in salt water then applying an antiseptic followed by hydrocortisone cream is an advisable treatment.

If any spots should begin to weep or ooze then obtaining an antibiotic in cream or tablet form from your doctor would be appropriate. Your symptoms should soon settle down and cause no further bother.|||Just use cold water and cool compress. Wash your face for a few minutes under cold water [no soap] then use a washcloth soaked in cold water on the area for like 10 minutes at a time throughout the evening.

Most lotions and creams will irritate your skin more, in this situation it's usually better to just let your skin 'breathe' and not put anything on it. If you get any sores though, maybe put a little neosporin on to help them heal faster.
