Can I dye a blue acrylic blanket by using red dye?
I am buying a 100% acrylic baby blanket for my daughter. It's a blanket that has been discontinued so finding the right color has been difficult. I finally found a blue one and I want to dye it a light purple color. Can I just use a small amount of red dye? Or would using a color remover then purple dye be the best route...?|||First you would need a special kind of dye because the ones we can buy in the craft store won't work on acrylic. If there's a silky binding, there isn't any dye that will color it. Because you can't predict how much red dye you would need to get the shade of purple you want, I'd go with your idea of using the the color remover first. http://dharmatrading.com might have dyes that will work on acrylic.
