Can I highlight blonde over my faded red hair?

Dyed an auburn brown over my dyed light brown color. It faded a lot and the light brown is showing through while the red is hardly noticable. Would it be safe to highlight a blonde over? I do not have enough money to get it done at a salon. I would also like to also avoid color remover.|||Anything involving peroxide or lightener is very damaging. Especially if not done professionally and ESPECIALLY if done to much. If decide to get it done I would def suggest wash and conditioning everyday and deep condition once a week
