How do i dye my very dark red hair chocolate brown?

I have dark hair with a tint of red (used to be very red) I want to get a chocolate brown for summer.


Would i achieve this by using hair colour remover and then putting a dye on top? Is it even possible? I am sure it is because Cheryl Cole has recently done this.
